Top Scorers of the UEFA Super Cup

In the battle of the champions, who is the highest scorer in the history of the tournament? The UEFA Super Cup is not a very important tournament because it is a tournament in which only two teams take part. On one hand, the winner of the Champions League is the first participant, whereas, on the other hand, the winner of the Europa League is the second participant. In short, it is the battle of the champions; a single match tournament to decide who is the king of the kings. Why is this article important when the tournament is not? The article is important because when the underdog team from the Europa League takes on the champion of the Champions League, players from both sides give their all to establish a mark of their own in the world of football. For the winners of the Europa League, it is the only chance to battle the winners of the Champions League. For the Champion League winning team, losing against a Europa League team is an embarrassment. Arie Haan, the only player in the tournament’s history to reach five goals Hailing from the Netherlands, Haan is the player who appeared maximum times in the UEFA Super Cup. He played eight matches for two teams; RSC Anderlecht and AFC Ajax. In the eight matches, Haan scored five goals; the most in the tournament's history. Haan had an average of 0.63 goals per match, which is a decent number even today. Radamel Falcao scored the only hattrick After Haan and his five goals, the magical number is three. No player to date reached four goals, but eight players have scored three. However, out of those eight players, Colombia’s Radamel Falcao is the only player to score a hattrick. Not to overlook, his hattrick is also the only hattrick in the tournament’s history that happened when he was playing for Atletico Madrid. Who are the seven other players to score three goals?  Apart from Falcao, Blokhin (Dinamo Kiev), Fairclough (Liverpool FC), McDermott (Liverpool FC), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Gerd Muller (Bayern Munchen), Rensenbrink (RSC Anderlecht) and François Van der Elst (RSC Anderlecht) are the seven players to score three goals. While Messi, Rensenbrink and der Elst took four games to score three goals, the other players achieved the feat in three matches. Last but not the least, there are 41 players who have either scored one or two goals in the UEFA Super Cup.
