There was a flurry of production of electric vehicles in the year 2022. As demand for electric cars (EVs) continues to rise, automakers have announced plans to increase the number of EVs available in all market sectors. We have developed a list of potential upcoming electric cars in India for the year 2023.

Mahindra XUV400EV

Details about Mahindra's upcoming XUV400 EV electric vehicle have been made public. The ARAI-certified driving range is 456 kilometers thanks to its 39.4kWh battery pack's 150PS and 350Nm. It will cost less than the MG ZS EV & Hyundai Kona Electric, but it will still be competitive with Tata Nexon EV Max & EV Prime.

Ioniq 5

With the Ioniq 5, Hyundai will introduce its second electric vehicle to the Indian market. The Korean manufacturer has previously shown off its crossover, so we know what features we can expect to see in the States. To be more precise, both the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 are built upon the electric vehicle-specific E-GMP platform. The Ioniq 5 sold in India is equipped with a single electric motor producing 217 horsepower and 350 Newton-meters of torque, and a battery pack with a capacity of 72.6 kilowatt-hours. The ARAI-estimated range of Hyundai's electric crossover is 631 kilometers. It will go up against the likes of the Kia EV6 & Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Lucid Air EV

To kick out 2019, MG will introduce the Air EV, its entry-level electric vehicle offering, to the Indian market. Although the precise release date of the Air EV has not been announced, it will be included in MG's portfolio there at Auto Expo 2023. The Air EV comes with two different battery pack capacities, each with a different stated range: 17.3 kWh for 200 km and 26.7 kWh for 300 km. The MG micro-EV could face up against Tata Tiago EV & the Citroen eC3 if it is introduced in India.

Citroen eC3

Recent announcements have included the moniker, eC3, for Citroen's future electric automobile in India. The C3-based tiny electric hatchback is projected to have greater conveniences than the ICE version it replaces. It might have a range of 350 kilometers using a 50-kilowatt-hour battery pack powering an electric motor producing 136 horsepower and 260 Newton-meters of torque. In addition, a smaller battery pack, providing a range of about 300 kilometers, may be added to the electric hatchback. When it hits the market, it will face up against Tata Tiago EV, the Tata Tigor EV, and the soon-to-be-released Tata Punch EV.

Tata Punch EV

Tata, India's foremost electric vehicle maker, has announced that it will be releasing an upgraded vehicle of the Punch shortly. Spec-wise, it will fall between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV Prime. The ALFA platform it uses will make it the first electric vehicle produced by Tata. Although Tata has demonstrated the concept of Altroz EV on this architecture, it was never mass-produced.

Hyundai Kona EV

The next generation of Hyundai's Kona SUVs debuted recently, and an electric variant of the vehicle is rumored to be coming to India in 2023. The same 39.2kWh battery pack and servo engine producing 136PS & 395 Nm of torque and an ARAI-stated range of 452 km are likely to be available.

The product is being shipped as a CBU (completely built unit). The VW Group's innovative MEB platform serves as the foundation.
