Simple DIY Techniques To Get Heatless Curls At Home
There are plenty of simple and heatless hacks to get natural-looking curls, including the use of items like scarves, socks, and even chopsticks.
Curls look fantastic on all hair colors, textures, and lengths. Curling wands and flat irons can transform your tresses into beautiful ringlets, but the heating comes at a cost. If you frequently expose your locks to the high temperatures of styling tools, which can get heated up to 450 degrees, the extreme heat can cause damage to your tresses, disrupting their natural curl patterns. To rescue your tresses from all the damaging heating tools, we are here with some heatless DIY curling techniques for you to try at home.
Stockings or sock curls
If you wish to get tighter and smaller curls, grab some stockings or over-the-knee socks and use them as your curling tool. Place the socks on your head and position them at the center, on both sides. Next, split your tresses into two sections and use socks to wrap each section around it in circles. Keep repeating the process until it reaches the end, and then use a hair tie or clip to tightly secure both sides. To prep your hair you may also use hairspray or texture spray for extra volume and hold.
Braid your tresses
Of all the heatless methods, the easiest way of getting loose wavy curls is to braid your tresses before going to bed at night and sleeping with them. Wake up in the morning and undo the braids to greet your natural ringlets. To tame any frizz, use a non-greasy smoothing hair serum.
Use satin scarves
Much like the stockings technique, you can use satin scarves to create heatless, natural-looking curls at home. You have to gather all your tresses little by little and tightly wrap them around the satin scarf. Next, bundle up the scarves into two buns on both sides of your head and wait overnight if you want perfect waves.
Use chopsticks and socks.
In this technique, you will need a sock and some chopsticks to get flawless ringlets. Push a chopstick into the sock, and the bottom of the sock should face down. Next, wrap strands of your locks around the sock just the way you would do around a curling wand’s barrel. Now unfold the bottom of the sock and wrap your tresses around it, and pull up the sock on itself. Then, gently pull out the chopstick. Leave the socks overnight and your beachy waves will be ready to serve the following morning.
