Morning Habits Of People Who Became Wildly Successful

These morning habits could set you up for success.

Ever wonder how history's most successful people achieved great success? It might be due to their morning routines. While these morning habits may be a small fraction of what made them successful, it was instrumental to get their creative juices flowing. Here are some you could try that could be beneficial for you.

1 Make a resolution in the morning

Every morning, Benjamin Franklin would wake up at 5 a.m. and ask himself one simple question: "What good shall I do this day?" Lucky for us, he laid out his morning schedule in his autobiography. He would rise, wash up and address powerful goodness. When he came up with a game plan he would have his breakfast and get to work.

2 Stimulate your mind

Before you begin your day, do something to gently wake up and stimulate the mind. Jane Austen reportedly practised the piano in the morning. English-American poet W. H. Auden would begin his day by doing a crossword puzzle. Many political leaders, like Theodore Roosevelt, would do some reading in the morning. It doesn't matter what you are reading. It is fuel for your brain.

3 Treat yourself

When you think about all you have to do the next day, doing something joyful before you begin your day is not what comes to mind for most of us. But it could just be a healthy start to your day. It could even be an activity that helps you to relax or feel more confident. Sigmund Freud would have a barber swing by to trim his beard every day. Napoleon Bonaparte and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were also believed to have grooming sessions. You could also spend time listening to music, enjoying your coffee or head out for a quick jog.

4 Work from bed

This may sound strange, but some of the greats found working in bed to be productive. This method was certainly helpful to French writer Voltaire. He reportedly wrote over 50 plays in his lifetime. A lot of them were written from his bed. Just because you stay in bed all day, doesn't mean you have to be lazy. It is believed that Voltaire would work for 18 hours in a day sometimes and drink a lot of coffee. It is believed that Winston Churchill would spend hours in bed in the mornings, where he would eat his breakfast, read the paper and work.
