You will never see and find any Ratchaphruek with both flowers and leaves. When the flower blooms, the leaves fall. Because of this, you see trees full of vibrant yellow colour diminishing everything in the surrounding. Importance of Ratchaphruek in other countries. Ratchaphruek is known and revered in other countries such as Laos and India. During the Laotian new year, people hang these flowers in their homes to attract prosperity and good luck. Ratchaphruek is also the national flower of the Indian state of Kerala. These flowers are used exclusively for the sacred rituals for Lord Vishnu in the Vishnu festival. The flower and the tree are mentioned in several sacred and ancient Tamil texts and scriptures. It also finds mention in the several Ayurvedic texts for its healing properties.
