Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, has recently established a strategic content partnership with Sikhya Entertainment, an Indian production house founded by Guneet Monga Kapoor.

Under this collaboration, the two companies will collaborate on the creation of numerous projects encompassing feature films and digital formats. Although specific projects have not been unveiled yet, the partners have disclosed plans to unveil details within the next two to three months.

This partnership brings together one of the prominent mainstream Bollywood production companies with Sikhya Entertainment, renowned internationally for its independent and festival-oriented content. The alliance merges the strengths of both entities, expanding their creative horizons.

Versatile Filmography: Dharma Productions' Diverse Portfolio

Dharma Productions has an illustrious repertoire that encompasses iconic Bollywood classics from the 1990s like "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani." They have also ventured into recent releases, including the fantasy action film "Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva," a high-budget collaboration with Disney, and the action comedy "Selfiee," starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, which hit the screens this year.

Sikhya Entertainment has established its reputation as a producer or co-producer of acclaimed festival hits, such as "The Lunchbox," "Masaan," and "What Will People Say." They have also achieved success in the realm of documentaries, with Oscar-winning films like "Period. End Of Sentence," directed by Rayka Zehtabchi, and "The Elephant Whisperers" by Kartiki Gonsalves. Furthermore, Guneet Monga Kapoor expanded her production ventures into the digital space with the anthology series "Zindagi In Short" in collaboration with Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, marking their entry into digital formats in 2020.

Why the Collaboration?

The two companies initially collaborated on the distribution of Ritesh Batra's critically acclaimed film "The Lunchbox." Following its premiere at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Grand Rail d'Or in Critics Week, Dharma co-distributed the movie in India in partnership with UTV Motion Pictures.
