Kajol and Ajay Devgn are one of Bollywood's most celebrated couples today. But contrary to popular belief, it didn't really begin with "love at first sight".
If you ever feel love is rare these days, look at Kajol and Ajay Devgn for a reminder that it's not. The two - both accomplished actors in their own rights - have been married for 26 years, staying by each other through both the highs and lows of life. As they have mentioned several times, they are different in many ways - whether it's their personalities, interests, or simply approaches to life - but this only strengthens their bond. And that's a valuable lesson about companionship; it's all about accepting differences and choosing to stay together, no matter what.
Kajol and Ajay Devgn tied the knot on February 24, 1999, in an intimate wedding. As we celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary, let's learn an interesting fact about them that many do not know.
Yes, you read it absolutely right. Kajol is a very talkative and extroverted lady, while Ajay Devgn is shy and introverted (his X bio states, "I talk more in movies than in real life). And that's why the two didn't really like each other at the first meeting.
The two fell in love during the shooting of the 1995 film 'Hulchul'. But their first meeting had taken place before that. Speaking about the same in an interview with Pioneer, Ajay stated, “I had met Kajol once before we started shooting for Hulchul. Honestly, I wasn’t very keen to meet her after that. When you meet her for the first time, she comes across as a loud, arrogant, and a very talkative person. Moreover, we were very different from each other in terms of personality."

Kajol, on the other hand, was also not very impressed with Ajay initially. She expected him to be larger-than-life (like his characters) and hence was disappointed when she saw him for the first time.
As they say, whatever is meant to happen, will happen. Therefore, although Kajol and Ajay Devgn didn't like each other initially, they soon became friends while filming 'Hulchul' and gradually fell in love.
In a podcast with Humans of Bombay, the DDLJ actress shared, "... we kind of became friends from there. You know, standing, sitting on set you spend so much time on set, we just started talking, became friends, then eventually I broke up, he broke up and then we became a little more than friends."

Soon, they realized that they would like to spend the rest of their lives together. But they took their time and let their relationship grow organically. As Ajay shared in his interview with Pioneer, "... We didn’t rush through it. As a matter of fact, we never said ‘I love you’. An official proposal didn’t happen either. We fell in love and grew with each other. We took our time until we were sure that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Marriage, too, was never discussed, but was always imminent."

On February 24, 1999, Kajol and Ajay Devgn tied the knot in an intimate ceremony. And it has been a "happily ever after" story for them ever since then. They are now parents to two children, Nysa, born in 2003, and Yug, born in 2010.
