MI, led by Rohit Sharma, set a challenging target of 189/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Parthiv Patel's brilliant knock of 81 runs off 58 balls laid the foundation, complemented by Ambati Rayudu's explosive 65 off just 37 deliveries, and despite the early loss of Rohit Sharma, Patel and Rayudu's partnership propelled Mumbai Indians to a formidable total. Punjab, led by Murali Vijay, fought valiantly but fell short, managing to score 164/7 in their 20 overs. Shaun Marsh's steady 45 and Glenn Maxwell's aggressive 56 kept their hopes alive. Still, the Mumbai Indians bowlers, especially Tim Southee, claimed the wickets of Vijay and Shaun Marsh, and Jasprit Bumrah got the wickets of Manan Vohra, Glenn Maxwell and Nikhil Naik, ensuring victory for their team.
