IPL 2023: Matheesha Pathirana’s Sister Hails Dhoni for Taking Good Care of Her Brother
After meeting Matheesha Pathirana’s family, former Indian captain MS Dhoni shared some photos on Instagram on behalf of the CSK bowler.
After MS Dhoni visited the family of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler, Matheesha Pathirana’s sister Vishuka was ecstatic. She made sure to take several photos with the renowned Indian cricketer.

Vishuka took it to Instagram to share the pictures with MSD. She captioned the pictures and wrote, “Now we are sure that malli is in safe hands when Thala said, ‘You have nothing to worry about Matheesha, he’s always with me’. These moments were even beyond what I had ever dreamt of.”
Matheesha’s stint at CSK so far
Pathirana joined the Super Kings in 2022. Despite not playing in many games, the right-arm bowler received praise from the now-41-year-old Dhoni.
Pathirana hasn’t let his captain down when Dhoni has largely relied on him to deliver with the ball in the final overs. Pathirana ranks third among the Super Kings’ top wicket-takers for the current season. In 11 games, he has taken 17 wickets at a 7.91 economy rate.
Pathirana is anticipated to get involved when CSK takes part in the IPL 2023 championship game on May 28 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Dhoni on Pathirana
Recently, Dhoni opined that Pathirana should stay away from playing Test cricket and other forms of cricket where the red ball is used.
“I personally think he is not someone who should play a lot of red-ball cricket. I think he shouldn’t even get close to it. Even in white-ball cricket, the 50-over version, he should play as little as possible. [He should] play the big ICC tournaments because he is not somebody who will change a lot. This [having an impact in short bursts] is what he will do, so you can always use him at crucial times,” Dhoni was quoted as saying.
