French Open 2023: Alcaraz and Djokovic Likely to Face Each Other in the Semifinals

According to the draw made public on Thursday, top seed Carlos Alcaraz might face two-time champion Novak Djokovic in the 2023 French Open semifinals.

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz has the possibility of facing two-time champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open.

In the opening round of the 2023 French Open, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will face a qualifier or lucky loser, while Novak Djokovic, going for a record-breaking 23rd Major, will play Aleksandar Kovacevic of the USA. Due to a hip injury incurred during this year's Australian Open, Rafael Nadal, the tournament's defending champion and 14-time winner in Paris, will not be competing.

The runner-up from the previous year, Casper Ruud, will compete against a qualifier or fortunate loser in the opening round and might come up against Holger Rune of Denmark in the quarterfinals.

Following his victory at the Italian Open on clay, second seed Daniil Medvedev will play a qualifier or fortunate loser in the opening round and might meet Italy's Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals.

Women’s draw

The last three Roland Garros women's singles champions, Swiatek and Barbora Krejcikova, might face off in the fourth round of the women's draw. Victoria Azarenka could also be up for grabs at that point.

Swiatek is also expected to face Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals, which would be a repeat of last year's championship match. Additionally, the Pole was drawn in the same half of the draw as Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, who has won all three of their encounters this year.
