Diljit Dosanjh is one of the most loved artists across the globe, and he has been setting several milestones in the music industry. The actor-singer makes sure to promote Punjabi music on global platforms, and now adding another feather to his cap, he has not become the first Punjabi artist to perform at the BC Place stadium in Vancouver, Canada.

He shared snippets of his Dil-Luminati tour on his Instagram handle, including a series of photos and a video. He captioned the post as, “HISTORY HAS BEEN WRITTEN (writing emoji) BC PLACE STADIUM (building emoji) SOLD OUT (face with goggles emoji) DIL-LUMINATI TOUR (monster emoji).”

Details of the Dil-Luminati tour

The popular Punjabi pop star Diljit is currently in Vancouver, Canada to kick off his Dil-luminati tour, which marks a huge milestone in his career. The Vancouver concert is the first stop in his 2024 tour schedule, and ahead of it, he had managed to sell out concerts at two other venues in Canada, including Rogers Arena in Vancouver and Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

For the Dil-Luminati tour, the actor-singer managed to sell out all the tickets. While the front-row seats for the afternoon show were rated at 482.79 US dollars, they went up to 713.89 US dollars, as reported by Money Control. Other seats in the stadium were priced ever more, which clearly means that the show was hugely popular. At the event, Diljit crooned songs from his popular album GOAT, and as you know, he performed the tracks for 54,000 fans in Vancouver.

Clearly, the concert at BC Place was a huge event. Two hours before the show kicked off, hundreds of people thronged outside the stadium, despite the rainy weather, and they were all excited to see Diljit perform live. The Dil-Luminati tour and the Vancouver concert is not only an achievement for its size but also because it’s not usual to witness such a massive Punjabi music concert to be this large outside of India.

Before the Dil-Luminati tour, during his concert in Mumbai, Diljit was heard talking about breaking the Punjabi stereotype. He said, “They said Punjabis aren’t fashionable and I said, I will show you. They said Punjabis can’t act in films, I showed them I could. They said Punjabis can’t go to Mumbai, and I proved them wrong. They said Punjabis can’t sell tickets for the bar arena, so I had the stadium packed at my concert. They said Punjabis can’t do Illuminati, I said, I will do ‘Dil-Luminati.”

Apart from his singing career, Diljit has an active acting career as well. He was last seen in Imtiaz Ali's musical biopic Amar Singh Chamkila, co-starring Parineeti Chopra. The actor was seen in the titular role in the life of the late Punjabi singer, who was nicknamed as the Elvis of Punjab by his fans. Streaming on Netflix, the film got huge praise from the audience and critics alike, and Diljit has been hailed for his performance in the film.
