Deepika Padukone Graces Time Cover

Deepika Padukone's global icon status remains undeniable. Time magazine's latest issue features a captivating cover story, highlighting her vision as a truly influential global superstar. In response to the question of a potential Hollywood move, Deepika candidly expressed to Time, "My mission has always been to make a global impact while still being rooted in my country." Reflecting on her success, she shared, "I didn't have a game plan for how to get here, but I didn't see failure on my vision board."

Surprisingly, Deepika revealed that she never envisioned becoming an actress during her upbringing. She shared, "From my story so far, there's nothing that indicates that I would have anything to do with the movies. The weird thing is that the few times a year my family watched a movie, I felt a connection. Like that's where I'm going to be one day."

Acknowledging the support she received for opening up about her mental health, Deepika expressed gratitude, stating, "The beautiful part is that millions of them will probably never meet me, but they're still on the journey of life with me. They understand my body language, my expressions, my silences."

Her take on India Winning the Oscars this time

Regarding India's groundbreaking achievement of winning its first Oscar for Best Original Song, Deepika expressed, "But I don't think we should be happy with one Oscar for a song and one Oscar for a documentary. I hope we can look at this as the beginning of an opportunity." SS Rajamouli's RRR song Naatu Naatu triumphed in this category. It is worth noting that Deepika herself had the honor of being one of the presenters at the Oscars.

In the Face of Continued Political Backlash

Deepika Padukone addressed the persistent "constant political backlash" she has faced. She openly stated, "I don't know if I'm supposed to feel something about it. But the truth is, I don't feel anything about it." It is worth noting that her film Padmaavat previously encountered protests from the Karni Sena. Furthermore, her visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University to express solidarity with students and the political criticism surrounding her "saffron bikini" in a song from Pathaan has also garnered significant attention.

On the Work Front

Deepika Padukone's recent appearance was in the film "Pathaan," which was released earlier this year and achieved blockbuster success. She starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan, alongside a cast that included John Abraham and Salman Khan. Deepika's upcoming project is "Project K," marking her first collaboration with Prabhas. The film is reported to be a two-part venture directed by Nag Ashwin, featuring Amitabh Bachchan in a pivotal role. It is scheduled to release on January 12, 2024. Additionally, Deepika Padukone has the film "Fighter" lined up alongside Hrithik Roshan.
