AutoComparo: How the Ronin Fares Against Its Rivals?

The newly-launched Ronin seems to be a promising motorcycle. Therefore, in the following paragraphs, we have compared Ronin to its rivals

The newly-launched Ronin, in our opinion, is a great motorcycle. A decently powered engine that generates peak torque at around 4,000rpm, followed by loads of electronic aids and cool tech pieces, makes the Ronin a sweet dish. However, we are all confused with one factor and, i.e., the genre of Ronin.

TVS calls it a modern-retro motorcycle that features scrambler, cruiser and retro elements. Therefore, it is hard to put Ronin in a category. So, who are Ronin’s closest rivals? Taking into consideration the motorcycle’s power figures, design language and purpose; we believe the Ronin’s closest rivals are the FZ 250, CB 350 RS, Meteor 350 and Yezdi Scrambler. Scroll down and learn how the Ronin fares against the mentioned motorcycles.

Yamaha FZ 250

At INR 1.44 lakh, the FZ makes 20.8hp and 20.1Nm from a two-valve, air-cooled engine compared to Ronin’s four-valve, oil-cooled engine that makes 20.4hp and 19.93Nm. While the Ronin has tons of features and premium hardware, the FZ 250 offers nothing extraordinary. If we have to pick one between the two, we will take the Ronin dual-channel ABS version.

Honda CB 350 RS

If you care about bigger displacement and better figures, the 350cc CB 350 RS offers 30Nm of torque; therefore, this should be your pick. However, if you want a motorcycle that offers a bit of everything, the Ronin should be your choice. The CB 350 is heavier compared to Ronin’s weight of 160 kilograms, and in terms of electronic aids or modern-day features, it offers very little at a price of over INR 2.30 lakh.

Royal Enfield Meteor 350

If you are a Royal Enfield fanboy who loves the iconic thump and spends the entire year on the highways or at Ladakh, the Meteor 350 is ideal for you. Apart from extreme comfort and 27Nm of torque, we do not see any other reason to pick up the Meteor 350. Not to forget, we also do not want to deal with the 191 kilograms of weight and the lack of electronic goodies.

Yezdi Scrambler

In this listicle, the Yezdi Scrambler is the only motorcycle we will happily choose over the Ronin. Why? Well, it makes more power and torque than the Ronin along with dual-purpose tyres and spoked wheels that are great for off-roading. Not to forget, the Yezdi offers a better top-end and also has modern-day features such as a digital instrument cluster, USB and Type-C charging points and dual-channel ABS with three levels.
