The Mayan Civilization started around 2000 BC and this civilization was developed by the Mayan People from the ancient Mesoamerican Civilization.
The Mayans arrived in Central America from Northern Mexico. Maya people formed the Maya Region, which today comprises southeastern Mexico, all of Guatemala and Belize, and the western parts of Honduras and El Salvador. The earliest Maya cities were established during 750 BC, and by 500 BC they flourished a lot and built monumental architecture, including large temples. After the discovery of the American continent and the rise of colonialism, Spain made it a part of its empire by conquering the Mayan people. Here we have created a list of several amazing facts about the Maya Civilization.
The Mayan civilization was a flourishing civilization especially when it comes to astronomy. Their civilization used ideas that are similar to many modern stuff. They correctly calculated that in a year there are 365 days, and their calculations were only a little bit different from today. They also made a calendar which they called Haab and most of the Maya people’s temples were built and constructed according to the positions of the moon and other celestial bodies. It’s because they believed that the Gods created the sun and moon as messengers, so before making any monument they keep these things in their minds.
Though it’s a truth that during the era of colonialism whenever a powerful country makes a less powerful country or a civilization, they destroy their culture either by power or by propaganda and it’s a truth that Maya Civilization does not exist today but Maya people do exist. The native Maya people who are the descendants of their ancient ancestors still exist in areas such as Southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and parts of El Salvador.
If you think that the Pyramids were made only in Egypt, then you are totally wrong. Archeologists found many pyramid-type monuments in the Maya region and a large pyramid that is about 1000 years old was recently discovered at Toniná in the Mexican state of Chiapas. They made pyramids as temples and royal tombs. It’s strange that two different civilizations far away from each other and never met each other made monuments of the same type monuments for the same reason
