Mumbai Indians Appoints Mark Boucher as Head Coach, Coach Trevor Bayliss Joins Punjab Kings

For the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have appointed Mark Boucher as the head coach, whereas Punjab Kings have hired Trevor Bayliss. 

Former South African cricketer and South Africa’s present coach Mark Boucher will be Mumbai Indians’ head coach for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2023. Recently, Boucher announced he will end his managerial stint with South Africa after the T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to be held next month in Australia.

On the other hand, Trevor Bayliss has been roped in as the new coach of Punjab Kings for the 2023 IPL season. In 2012 and 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL under the management of Bayliss. He was also the in-charge of the Sheffield Shield winning side New South Wales in 2013-2014.

On the other hand, Bayliss expressed, “I’m honoured to be given the Head Coach’s role with the Punjab Kings. A foundation franchise with an appetite for success. I look forward to working with a talented squad of players determined to compete for silverware.”

South Africa under Boucher

As of now, under Boucher, the Proteas are ranked no. 2 on the ICC World Test Championship table. Boucher as a manager also led the South African team to 11 Test wins, 12 ODI triumphs and 23 T20I victories. At the domestic-level, he helped the Titans win five titles.
