You Are Not Prepping Your Skin For Make-Up

The first step to having a flawless make-up base is having your skin prepped before you even start with the make-up. Now, skin prepping does not only mean putting on primer. Skin prepping involves doing a proper skincare routine at least 30 minutes before you start doing your make-up. Start off by cleaning your face with a gentle cleanser. Follow this buy adding some toner. Once you have done that, put on your serum followed by a hydrating moisturizer. Doing this will create a smooth and even surface for your make-up to sit on. Unless you have your skin prepped properly, your base products are going to stick to your rough patches and the make-up will be uneven and cakey.

You Are Applying Way To Much Product

Always remember, less is more when it comes to make-up. Make-up is not absorbed into your skin. It sit on the surface. So, when you apply a lot of product or layer it up multiple times, the product build up could result in a cakey base. Only apply a very small and necessary amount. Start with little and slowly build it up if you want more coverage. However, too many layers will again make your make up cakey as the product build up would result the make-up to be blotchy.

You Are Not Using The Right Product For Your Skin Type

It is important to choose make-up products according to your skin type. Otherwise you will be mixing up textures and that would make your make-up look blotchy and cakey. If you are oily skin type person, go for foundation that offers a matte finish. If you have dry skin, use make-up products that offer dewy finish to the skin.
