Prime MInister Elisabeth Borne assembled an emergency meeting on Monday Evening.

As per French Media reports, the government will impose a ban on the filling of fuel jerry cans throughout the country.

Due to the strike, there has been a decrease in fuel deliveries, sparking fears and introducing long waiting hours.

This has also affected School transportation like School buses, etc.

Information

Agnes Pannier-Runacher, Minister for Energy Transition stated, “The French must not be prisoners of this social conflict which does not concern them.”

Along with the strikes, fuel prices have skyrocketed in the past week.

In the process of negating the fuel shortage, the French government released large volumes of fuel from its strategic reserves and strengthened its fuel imports from Belgium.

The agreement to initiate negotiations by TotalEnergies and the CGT turned out to be inconclusive in the past weekend.

The high inflation in France has caused the strikers to demand a raise in salary as compensation.
