Plot Twist! Guardiola Pledges Not to Overthink; Grealish Does Otherwise in Training Ahead of the Madrid Clash

Ahead of the Champions League clash, Grealish was spotted training as a goalkeeper.

A few days ago, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola pledged not to overthink his team ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid. However, the City players were caught turning up the heat in their recent training session. So much so that attacking midfielder Jack Grealish trained as a goalie against Haaland’s penalty training.

The video of Grealish goalkeeping went viral on Twitter, and the comment section got overflown by several funny comments.

On the other hand, one must note that Guardiola is very particular and often overthinks when it comes to selecting his squad for the Champions League. Not to forget, City fans have endured too many heartbreaks when it comes to the Champions League. After all, despite having strong squads, the team has never lifted the trophy.

Twitter post

Reacting to the video, one user wrote, "Double Pivot of Rodri and Ederson for Madrid ? I’ll be there," whereas another added, "Grealish is a better shot stopper than Pickford." A third user added, "Pep is overthrowing again, Grealish is about to be a goalie against Madrid tomorrow."

Guardiola’s statement

Earlier on Tuesday, the gaffer said, "I’m not overthinking it. Don’t worry. It’s nothing different from what we’ve done, just more fluid in attack and play a bit better. The legacy is that we’ve had one hell of a time and for many years they will remember this generation of players."

"My legacy is already exceptional. For years, we have scored lots of goals and conceded very few, we’ve won lots of things and won very well. People should remember that. It would be a good book. Whether or not they will remember," he added.

Modric’s comment

On the other hand, Real Madrid, the team with the most Champions League titles in the tournament’s history, is brimming with confidence to lift another trophy.

Madrid’s star midfielder Luka Modric said, "We’re eager to get going. We need to enjoy it, live every minute. All the titles speak for themselves. We’ve created a dynasty. You have this in your head, it gives you extra motivation. We feel comfortable in these kind of matches. The history of the club obliges you to give the maximum in this competition. I’m proud of what we’ve done."
