Impact of the Global Pandemic on the environment

The last couple of years brought unexpected changes to our life and world.  The situation of the global environmental crisis is not brand-new in the market. For over a decade, it got listed as one of the primary topics of concern around the globe. Therefore, it requires constant monitoring. In most cases, the rising population and their contribution to the industrial revolution were held responsible for the crisis. As a result, the quality of the environment kept on declining with time. The concerned departments implement different ways to control and monitor the crisis. However, the global pandemic (aka Coronavirus outbreak) impacted our environment in many ways. Here, the work from home culture gained popularity among all. As a result, according to the study reports, the world experienced an almost 25% reduction in carbon emission from various sources. Similarly, the global pandemic had the following impacts on the environment. In the last two years, we could experience improved air quality. Before the global pandemic, inhaling fresh air was nearly impossible. With the decreasing air quality index of different cities, people suffer from various hazardous diseases- lung disorders, weak heart conditions, etc. However, the global pandemic created a positive impact on the environment. The coronavirus outbreak improved the air quality index in different countries by reducing the emission of harmful Green House Gases (GHGs). As a result, the world experienced around 45% reduction in Nitrogen Oxide (NO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas emissions into the environment. The global pandemic helped wildlife flourish in different parts of the world. Overpopulation has been the primary factor disturbing the wildlife ecosystem. However, the condition changed after the outbreak of the deadly virus. According to the reports, the global pandemic slowed down global extinction by allowing the natural flow of the cycle. When we stayed back at home to stay protected, the other creatures got the chance to breathe openly. For instance, due to lesser tourism and boating activities, almost four lakhs seventy-five thousand sea turtles got spotted laying eggs along the Odisha coast. Also, different wild species of birds were flocking in Peru. The better air quality eventually improved vegetation around the world. In addition, the global pandemic ensured less human interference, which helped healthy plant growth. The fresh air, water and soil provide a suitable environment for plant growth. Comparatively, these plants are rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. These are some positive impacts of the global pandemic on the environment.
