No Indian batsman batting at number 7 has scored a century on debut in test cricket till now. Rahul Dravid - 95 

Rahul Dravid made his debut alongside Sourav Ganguly at Lord's against England. While Ganguly went on to score a brilliant century, Rahul Dravid was unfortunate to miss out on one and fell just 5 runs short of a well-deserved ton on debut. Dravid more than made up for it with his long lasting career and served Indian cricket over several years.

Bapu Nadkarni - 68 

Bapu Nadkarni played 41 test matches for India. He scored 1414 runs at 25.70 with the help of one century and 7 half centuries. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler also picked up 88 wickets at an average of 29.07 with 2 4-wicket hauls and 4 5-wicket hauls. In his debut test match against New Zealand at Delhi, Nadkarni scored 68 while batting at No. 7.

Washington Sundar - 62 

Washington Sundar was initially selected as a net bowler for the test series between India and Australia but got to make his debut in test cricket after both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were injured.

Sundar did not disappoint and picked up three wickets in his first innings, including the prized scalp of Steven Smith. He then had a match-defining partnership with Shardul Thakur with both scoring 60s to whittle away at the Australian first innings lead.

Yuvraj of Patiala - 60 

Yadvendrasingh, also known as the Yuvraj of Patiala, played his only test match against England at Chennai in 1934. He batted at number 7 in the game and scored 60 runs in his debut innings. He backed it up with 24 in the second innings to finish with an impressive average of 42, albeit from just two innings.

Dilawar Husain - 57

Dilawar Hussain was born in Lahore in undivided India and went on to play test cricket for India. He represented the country in three test matches and scored 254 runs at 42.33. Hussain scored 57 runs while batting at number 7 on his test debut.

Vijay Manjrekar - 48

Sanjay Manjrekar's father Vijay Manjrekar represented India in 55 test matches. He scored 3208 runs at 39.12 with the help of 7 centuries and 15 half centuries. Senior Manjrekar scored 48 in his debut innings while batting at number 7.
